About the journal

"Studia Archiwalne" (“Archival Studies”) is a scholarly journal published by Archiwum Państwowe (The State Archive) in Lublin. It was established in 2004 as a publishing series and in this format three volumes of the periodical were issued in 2004, 2006, and 2010. In 2017, "Studia Archiwalne" was transformed into an annual journal. Consequently, a new Scientific Committee was appointed under the chairmanship of Prof. Krzysztof Skupieński (UMCS Lublin), as well as a new Editorial Committee, headed by Dr Piotr Dymmel (Archiwum Państwowe in Lublin) as Editor-in-Chief. In 2023, following Dr Dymmel's retirement, the duties of Editor-in-Chief were assumed by the new Director of Archiwum Państwowe in Lublin – Krzysztof Kołodziejczyk. In 2023, the periodical was also added to the MNiSW’s (Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education) list of ranked journals.

"Studia Archiwalne" is aimed at the community of archivists, university scholars specialising in archival science and auxiliary sciences of history, museum professionals, and all those for whom issues related to archives, the acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of archival materials are of importance.

A broadly understood range of archival topics is covered in the articles published in "Studia Archiwalne", pertaining both to issues in the field of archival science and archive studies in their practical and theoretical dimensions. Furthermore, submissions from related fields, particularly the auxiliary sciences of history, are also welcome as they constitute an essential component of an archivist's methodology.
